about

'How can we know' explores the journey of love over a life-time - from early beginnings, to middle successes and failures, then the luck of finding someone for the long term if that happens... through Melanie Horsnell's quietly epic vocals amidst a beautiful mayhem of underlying explosions, dramatic reverse-played electric guitars and outer-space sounds. It's the sonic version of the northern lights, with love reaching out into space through time.

lyrics

How can we know

I was your first
sparks flew up in the night
now things are cooler
it’s time to take flight

all of our lives
are ahead, open roads
we’ve got to try what
feels right, as we go

oh how can we know
if we never go
and how can we choose
if we never lose

long streams and pipe dreams
they sparkle and run
leading us further
beyond what we’ve done

you’ll come around
when I’m ready to fly
you’ll come along
with a song in your eyes

oh how can we know
if we never go
and how can we choose
if we never lose

you feel like all
of my Sundays and sun
all rolled impeccably
right into one

we’ve both seen so
many bumps in the night
we can look back now and
know this is right

oh how can we know
if we never go
and how can we choose
if we never lose

I was your first
Sparks flew up in the night...
